This news coincided with our new website launch.
The ATF has released a "clarification" letter to SB Tactical, makers of the famous Sig Pistol Stabilizing Brace. The letter updates guidance from 2015 which implied that using a pistol brace against one's shoulder constituted "re-designing" the pistol into a short barrel rifle (SBR) that is regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA). Building an SBR without the requisite federal tax stamp is subject to 10 years in federal prison.
Well, the new letter states that using the brace against one's shoulder does NOT constitute a re-design of the product nor does it cause the pistol to become an SBR.
There are limitations and caveats, as with all things government, so please read the full letter (attached here) for yourself. I also recommend watching the Legal Brief episode as this is the only video produced by a licensed attorney that I have found. (I would advise you to avoid the "I'm not a lawyer, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn" YouTube pundits.)
This is great news for all freedom-loving individuals at it allows us to build and shoot AR/AK pistols with the added stability of a pistol brace without facing jail time.
These items are flying off the shelves, so let us know ASAP if you would like to order one for your AR/AK pistol, CZ Scorpion, or other firearm.
